Aberdeen Among Top Places To Live
Web site survey puts Hub City in Top 100

It's official – Aberdeen least according to a survey by one Web site.

Relocate-America.com named the Hub City as one of its top 100 places to live in its sixth annual survey.

Realtor Scott Grebner, the Aberdeen contact for the Web site, said that somebody who happened upon the site nominated the city and it made its way through the evaluation process.

According to the Web site, the nominated cities are compared in terms of education, crime, employment and housing data from the previous year.

Aberdeen was the only city in South Dakota , North Dakota , Minnesota or Iowa in the top 100.. “I thought it was pretty cool that of all the cities in the nation Aberdeen was named one of the top 100,” Grebner said.

The news came as no great surprise to Aberdeen Downtown Association Executive Director Georgia Smith who spends much of her time promoting the city. Smith said. “It's a great place and we have a good quality of life.”

Smith said there has to be a reason people stay in Aberdeen . “I grew up here, I left and traveled for a while and then I came back,” she said. “It's home.”

Smith said the city is great in a variety of ways. “It's very kid-family oriented, and it's a great place to start a business. Housing is good, taxes are cheap,” she said. “What is it that we don't have?”
